What I am looking for :

� January to June time frame. I start my internship January 12 and intend to fly to CA shortly before. My end date is not set. I will either stay at least until the end of May, but have the option to stay longer
� Location is important: I want to experience living in a cool city neighborhood, near Mission or Soma, but also a quick walk to one of the shuttle stops, because I will commute to Silicon Valley for work using a company bus.
� Furniture: I don�t have any in CA, wont bring any with me, and want to avoid buying big things or renting if possible. At bare minimum, I need a bed in my room. A desk or table and chair would also be a nice touch, and also some kind of dresser, closet, etc� but I can also deal without those.. a bed is the main thing. I am assuming there will be kitchen ware and appliances available. TV and couches in a common room are a very nice touch but I could live without them.

My Roommates:
� Dealbreakers: you must be relatively friendly, a non smoker, and ok living with a 22 year old straight male. Must also be relatively clean and tidy, not leaving a gross mess around common areas. I don�t care about gender, sexual orientation, etc. of my roommates.
� Ideally we can be around the same age (22) and get along well as friends, but its also fine if we end up doing our own thing. If you are sociable it is a big plus.
� I want to be allowed to bring friends over for dinner or drinks on the weekend before going out to a club, but I would not do this every weekend, and never (or very rarely) on weeknights
� Doing a family style dinner sometimes would be a nice touch.. I can cook, but won�t cook every night.
� I am ok with pets, as long as they are not causing problems (eating or defecating on my stuff, making tons of noise at night, excessively smelly, etc)

Okay, so the likelihood of ANYONE responding to this advert is pretty slim, but here goes...

I am offering my distinguished services as a house sitter for the holidays.

As they would say in Britain, I am a cheeky monkey. 27, female, non-smoker, no pets. I was born and raised in California, but 4 some years ago moved to Britain to do a PhD at Cambridge University, which I am in the midst of finishing as we speak (fingers crossed). My parents live in Sonoma County, and I am planning to come back to California for the holiday season, from the 9th of Dec to early January. However, I would really prefer to stay in the city, as I need access to source material etc for research.

Of course, I can't afford "to just stay" in the city (ie pay for a rented accomodation) and crashing on a friend's couch, though lovely for one night, is not contusive to getting any work done!

So, I ask you in good faith--do you need someone to watch your pets and keep your house for a couple of weeks while you are gone? I am hoping that through some form of karmic provenance, this message will find another academic or likeminded individual who for the holidays must also be away from their adopted home to revisit their native roots....

-I am soon to be a graduate in Psychology at SFSU. I am considering future grad school for law, forensic psychology, or psychology.

So, you post an ad for a roommate on Craigslist, and after sorting through hundreds of e-mails and restarting your computer a dozen times because of MySpace profiles gone wild, you narrow it down to a few candidates and fill up your weekend with interview appointments. We have a second home in Stateline (the same geographic community as South Lake Tahoe but on the Nevada side of the state border). It's a 1.5 bedroom (one bedroom is a converted den) / 2 bath condo, with jacuzzi-style tub as well as access to home-owner's community outdoor pool and hot tub, and views of the lake from the living room and dining area. We occupy a corner unit of the building which offers more privacy than the adjacent units.

It's located just off Tramway Dr. in Stateline, about a 10 minute drive up Kingsbury Grade from the casinos (close enough to be convenient, far enough to be away from the noise and bustle of the strip and feel closer to the natural surroundings), and right next to the Boulder Lodge and ski lifts of Heavenly Ski Resort. You can literally ski/snowboard/hike down a hill to the lifts, or drive about 3 minutes 42 seconds to get there.
